The Mermaids' Lagoon

The Mermaids' Lagoon, for solo harp, was first performed by Elinor Bennett at the Go West Festival in Haverfordwest, Wales, September 1995. The piece was later taken up by harpist, Lucy Wakeford, who has given the work numerous performances and a BBC Radio 3 broadcast. Lucy recorded The Mermaids’ Lagoon on the Okeanos cd ‘Horizons’ for ASC records: ASC CS CD51CD. This was re-released on my 2020 album, The Beachcomber.



In 1998, I made an arrangement of the piece for piano duet for a premiere by David Appleton and Kate Ryder at the Chard Festival in May 1998. A second performance in this version was given on 28th June 2008 at the Lower Machen Festival in South Wales by the piano duo, Evgenia Startseva and Yuri Paterson-Olenich.
